How to Keep Your AGUAFLUX Products in Working Condition

If you’re planning to spend money on our excellent water saving products, then you need to keep them in working condition and well looked after so that you enjoy the greatest possible water savings while seeing no difference in the way you shower or use the taps in your home.

Thankfully, looking after your AGUAFLUX water saving products is easy to do, and will ensure you keep them in working condition and enjoy years of water savings.

Ensure They’re Fitted Correctly

Many problems with new products begin when you buy them and fit them to an appliance without properly reading the instructions or guidelines that come with them.  All of our products are intuitive and easy to use, but we still supply you with instructions for how to use them so you’re not working blind.

Take the time to ensure you fit your shower head, nozzle, or flow aerator correctly, and you’ll be instantly enjoying excellent water and energy savings with 100% efficiency.

On-going Maintenance

Vinegar is most regularly cited as the liquid to use when you need to clean lime scale or other mineral deposits from a shower head or faucet aerator.  We’d recommend you follow this advice, although a lime-cleaning product will also do the job if you feel somewhat uneasy about soaking something in vinegar that you’re then going to stand under later!

Although ideally you’ll need to soak each part in your cleaning solution, this isn’t always possible.  If this is the case, then you should instead wrap a cloth saturated with vinegar or your cleaning solution around the product.

Added Checks

Also, you should use the cleaning process as an opportunity to ensure fittings haven’t become loose or your products or leaking, and buy any replacement parts, in the unlikely event that you need them, before refitting the shower head or aerator and using.  When you’ve finished cleaning, ensure you remove your chosen cleaning solution from your product by either thoroughly wiping or immersing in water.

AGUAFLUX water saving products are a great opportunity for you to help out the environment as well as save yourself a significant sum of money; taking the time to ensure your products are always in working condition will ensure you enjoy the greatest possible benefits.

Worldwide problematic of water

Today the water issue causes debates between the diverse institutions of scientists, politicians and technical experts who are interested in the provision of drinking water in the future.

The necessity to reach a balanced hydraulic level which secures sufficient water supplies of the population will be achieved by a good organized basis. The handling or consumption of this natural and valuable resource will help to protect the environment.

It is recommended to accomplish little tasks by which you can help to save water.

Examples are:

– Do not water your garden during longer periods of higher heat because it will simply vaporize.

– Make sure to use a fully loaded dishwasher and load it optimally according to the dishwasher´s manual.

– Using economical devices are essential for the use of water. Take a shower with flow restrictors and swivel sprayers.

– Make sure to have turned off the water tap while having your teeth brushed or your beard shaved.

Save money with a water-saving showerhead!

Saving water in your home

Use a water-saving shower head to cut down on your water consumption when showering without having to give up on comfort. There are, however, huge differences in terms of consumption, price, and quality. A regular shower head uses about 16 liters of water per minute. Savings of up to 50% (water, energy, and hence, your money) are realistic. In our opinion, hand-held shower heads with a consumption of less than 8 liters per minute cease to offer a comfortable and desirable shower experience. They simply use too little water.  There is a limit as to how much you can reduce the water flow rate—there comes a point when you simply don’t get properly wet anymore … A water-saving shower head with multiple settings options (e.g., massage jet) certainly offers an ideal combination of saving water and having an exclusive shower experience.

In addition, there are water-saving shower heads with, e.g., “Fog”, “Massage”, “Soft”, „Rain/Soft” jet types. If you are looking for a “Rain” shower head please make sure to check that the shower head is 110mm in diameter or more. As a general rule, the larger the shower disc the softer and more comortable the water jet. Modern water-saving shower units are mostly very pleasing to the eye and now offer a shower experience very similar to that of hand-held shower heads.

To make sure your water-saving showerhead enjoys a long lifecycle, we recommend the following care: Never use abrasive cloths or detergents. You should also avoid the use of detergents containing solvents or acids, descaling agents, distilled white vinegar, and detergents with acetic acids. They all have corrosive properties—your shower head will get scratched and lose its shine. Simply use mild soap and a slightly wet cloth to polish your shower head. Then rinse and dry it. Drying your shower head after each use will avoid the buildup of limescale.

If you want to save water without replacing your existing shower head we recommend purchasing a flow restrictor. This upgrade product is screwed onto the shower hose at the water outlet. It is easy to fit and you can save a lot of water this way.

And finally, another, slightly less serious tip for saving water in your home—if you don’t shower alone, you can save at least another 50% of water and energy …

Public Water Supply in Germany

Almost every resident of Germany, is connected to public water supply –  luxury circumstances that are rarely noticed anymore…

It is striking that the price for drinking- and waste water has increased over the last fifteen years by almost half. During this period, in Germany the average bill rose from 115 € to 171 € per  year per household member. A family of four pays accordingly to that between 260 and almost 2000 €/year. Yet, the water consumption has declined eight liters a day (per person) over  the past fifteen years due to the high water prices and growing environmental consciousness.

Nevertheless, the germans still use about 125 liters of drinking water per day, of which we consume:

32%  for toilet flushing
30% for bathing and showering
14% for laundry
6% for cleaning (face, hands and teeth)
6% for washing dishes
4% to water for garden plants
3% for household cleaning
2% for car washing

Help us to save precious water! With an water saving aerator, you can reduce  water consumption and costs by 50%!  A savings aerator reduces the water flow – by the adding air to the jet the beam still  feels thick and soft. These aerators resist limescale and work for very long time.

Saving water and energy can be very easy!

What does water have to do with saving energy?  You can save a lot of energy costs if you reduce your personal water consumption because everybody uses heated water while taking a shower, clean clothes or wash dishes. You don´t have to suffer any comfort and the effects of smart use of warm water shows quickly on your bank account.

For example:

Compared to a five minute shower, taking a full bath takes three times as much   water and energy. You save even more heated water if you install a water saving showerhead that reduces (without hardly noticing) the water flow up the 50 percent. Good models are available for as little as € 15,–.

saving water at home

Especially in southern Europe, water is scarce, that for the EU wants to converse  all households on to flow restricting products.
Germany is with a consumption of 129 liters per person/day compared with the main EU countries, far ahead in saving water. But there is further potential savings by installing e.g. water saving tap aerator or watersaving showerheads. It is worthwhile to compare the prices of various vendors!
Another aspect for energy-saving: less needlessly heated water flows into the drain.

Water saving aerators

Aerators (or faucet aerators), which are screwed into the spout of the faucet, provide a uniform and splash-free waterflow. The water consumption is reduced by over 50% by the mixing soft air into water jet.
Thus, washing hands is not only enjoyable, but it also saves money significantly by reducing the flow rate.
The amount of water can be reduced quite easily by an faucet aerator without loss any of comfort, because air is added simply to the water. From a normal 12 to 15 liters per minute of water flow, limitedto only about 5 liters per minute . That means (depending on your rate) a possible saving of up to 100 € a year.
Such aerators are available in any hardware store, you can also buy them online.

If you don´t have a nice and even warterjet anymore, but spray in different directions, it is time to replace the aerator or the inside bets, since it will probably be calcified and / or very dirty.

Mayor hotel chain reduces energy and water consumption

Saving water and energy in hotels
TiM Caspary / pixelio.de

After several years of intensive internal testing Hilton Worldwide presents results of the company’s internal environmental program “Light Stay”.
This program reduced  the water & energy consumption by 5 percent the CO2 emissions by 6 percent in all 1.300 participating hotels in the year 2009. The amount  of waste was reduced by 10 percent and  the water consumption by 2.4 percent.
In other words, these results are truly impressive: The energy saved is roughly equivalent to the annual consumption of 5,700 households, the  reduced CO2 emissions equals  the closure of 34 865 cars  and the saved water would fill more than 650 Olympic swimming pools.
The reduced energy and water consumption means an operating cost saving of approx. 29 million U.S. dollars (about 21 million €)

By the end of 201,1 all 3,50 Hilton Worldwide hotels will use the  Light-stay system
Sustainability in real life by saving energy and water consumption around the world-  reviewed at regular intervals and evaluated based on uniform standards.
